Politician Explains Poker Games

Republican Rick Barber recently attempted to explain the poker games he hosted at a pool hall. While poker is not illegal in his state in home games, it is in businesses. The DeJa Vu pool hall would run a poker game with about 20 people and a prize pool of around $400. The pool hall provides food and alcohol, which when mixed with poker crosses the legal line in Alabama. Barber defends the games saying that while his pool hall may have profited indirectly through food and drink sales he did not take any money from the poker games themselves.
