Dump and jump: durrrr drops $99k
Tom Dwan $99k lighter.Friday night on Full Tilt’s high-stakes tables started with Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and kingsofcards sitting in with POKERBLUFFS for a little $500/$1,000 No-Limit Hold’em. POKERBLUFFS only stayed for a short session however, winning one big pot against Tom “kingsofcards” Marchese before calling it a night with his $40k profit. Being the action junkies they are, Galfond and Marchese remained at the table to play some high-stakes heads up. The heads-up play lasted for close to an hour before Tom “durrrr” Dwan took POKERBLUFFS’ old spot at the table between the two players. Interestingly enough, Dwan’s stay at the table was almost the exact antithesis of POKERBLUFFS’.

News has hit the airwaves that ex-PokerNews presenter Tiffany Michelle has renewed her contract with Ultimate Betfor one more year. Michelle rose to prominence as a player at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event when she was the "last woman standing” – a title which she has been able to ride for at least another year, despite the fact that her poker tournament earnings since that deep run have totalled two cashes for a less-than-flattering US$16,763.   "I’m happy to be signing on for another year with Ultimate Bet and I’m eager to get back to playing in live tournaments and exclusively at their online poker tables," Michelle said. "The corporate team at UB has been so welcoming and supportive, and I’m thrilled to be working with them.

Online poker room UltimateBet has extended Tiffany Michelle’s contract by one year. The poker player, who is also a TV and Film actor, went deep in the World Series of Poker main event last year and was in fact the last female player to be eliminated from the Main Event. At that time she signed on with UltimateBet, which is also the poker room of Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke. Michelle has had her contract extended for a second year, and she will be playing exclusively at their online poker tables and representing the room at live events.

Early in the year I received a phone call from Mr Neil Channing. He asked me to attend a meeting in a London bar to mark the launch of his and Nik Persaud’s brainchild Blackbeltpoker. Well, the promise of a free bar duly guaranteed my presence and I was lucky enough to be selected for the first grading process.

The idea of Blackbeltpoker is an attempt to establish the first UK community that is aimed at high-level discussion and debate, some training, social networking and live tournament staking. The basic framework revolves around a multifaceted rakeback model, whereby several different activities (mentoring lower belts, making videos, having good results and of course rake) are used to maintain your upkeep on your current belt and possibly advance up to a higher belt. 2009 WCOOP starts tomorrow on PokerStars
To say this year’s World Championship of Online Poker will be bigger than ever might be an understatement. This year the prestigious online series will offer a total of 45 events and a guaranteed prize pool of $40 million. The WCOOP main event alone will have a $10 million guarantee. “I don’t think any other online tournament even compares,” said last year’s WCOOP main event winner Carter “ckingusc” King. “It’s definitely the biggest online series of the year. It’s like our World Series of Poker and we get pretty excited about it.” Last year Carter outlasted over 2,000 players and then beat a final table that included AKJHoosier1 to take down a first place prize of $1.3 million.
